Evaluation
In the task we chose to make a thriller of a romance gone wrong, with a twist at the end. We wanted to show a sweet innocent girl whose appearance changes throughout in her sadistically journey using low key lighting and orange light filters. The start innocent look seemed spot on with the starting generic romantic story line. We used mise en scene of a yellow coat to make her stand out alongside dangerous red lipstick and nails. These first train station shots of Florence and Callum proved to be the best with good natural lighting and steady shots. In the makeup shots it was aimed to achieve eye line editing which wasn’t completely clear in the final cut, but we also close to only use behind the shoulder seeing her in the mirror and close up shots so we only saw her in full. This was achieved and created the impression that she was fake.  However the murder shots seemed to be shaky and looked rushed which I think ruined the tension which was hoped to build up.

                 I think the main area of improvement could have been done in the editing which generally had a bad mix of shot and long takes which weren’t controlled. The editing could of also matched up to the music more including getting rid of some of the audio that came with the shots.

Place Beyond The Pines

The first establishing shot of the fairground shows the bleakness of it. This is because we can hear the no diegetic sounds of the screams and laughs however we’re seeing the back part of it with the gravel road. Before we see the conversation we can hear it in this shot, I think that this shows what he’s walking away from and that the mountains in the distance could show the new better world he could leave an disappear into. However I think the mountains could maybe show how he’s surrounded by the thick dense forest and that the is nowhere out. The side close up shot of Luke’s boss is hand held, this could show his anger towards Luke as he’s quitting and walking away from him but also show his fear and what it will be like without him.
